2016 Infiniti Q70 | 5 Reasons to Buy | Autotrader

Taking a glance at the midsize luxury-sedan segment, the 2016 Infiniti Q70 is often overlooked, but it shouldn't be. With available V8 or hybrid power, ...

The Infiniti Q70, previously known as the Infiniti M, is Infiniti’s halo sedan that embraces the essence of all things that make the Infiniti so unique: technology, craftsmanship, performance, style, and luxury. This car is nothing less than a showcase of sophisticated technologies developed to reward your senses with maximum comfort, excellent performance, and extra safety on the road. Enhancements to 2014 Q70 models include the addition of an engine oil cooler with the 3.7 Sport Package and revised spring/damper rates for rear-wheel drive Sport Package models. The 2014 Q70 is offered in five separate versions: Q70 3.7, Q70 5.6, Q70 3.7 AWD, Q70 5.6 AWD, and Q70 Hybrid; and comes in six exterior colors: Liquid Platinum, Platinum, Malbec Black, Graphite, Black Obsidian, Storm Front Gray, and Moonlight White. The Q70 3.7 models come with a 3.7-liter 24-valve DOHC aluminum-alloy V6 engine with an exclusive VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) technology. That engine is rated at 330 HP at 7,000 rpm and features 270 lb. ft. of torque at 5,200 rpm. The VVEL technology tunes valve lift and timing for better response and broader torque curve, while ensuring exceptional fuel economy and lower emissions.

To ensure the highest possible performance and reliability, the engine features a rigid ladder frame construction, molybdenum coated lightweight pistons, asymmetric piston skirts, large crank journal and pin diameters, Iridium spark plugs, twin knock sensors, and a symmetric twin air intake system. The Q70 5.6 models come with a 5.6-liter, 32-valve, Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG,) DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft,) aluminum-alloy V8 engine with VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) technology. The engine is rated at 420 HP and makes 417 lb. ft. of torque. By eliminating engine knock and improving combustion stability, the DIG system ensures improved fuel economy, better wide-open throttle performance, and lower emissions compared to a non-direct injection system. All Q70 models have a refined seven-speed automatic transmission enhanced with ASC (Adaptive Shift Control) and manual shift mode with Downshift Rev Matching, which ensures sportier shifts during performance focused driving. The Sport Package also includes solid magnesium paddle shifters.

All Q70 features the Infiniti advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) enhanced with a Traction Control System (TCS.) While the VDC system helps the driver to maintain control of the vehicle when it’s near its handling limit by adjusting brake pressure and engine torque, the advanced TCS improves cornering feel by applying the brakes so that load is increased on the front wheels. The 2014 Q70 models are offered with standard 4-wheel power-assisted vented disc brakes enhanced with the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA), and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD.) While the ABS system ensures maximum control during braking, the EBD one improves braking performance by adjusting the amount of brake force applied to front and rear wheels. In case the collision cannot be avoided and the driver doesn’t respond, the IBA system engages the brakes to reduce collision speed mitigating the consequences of the accident. The Q70 3.7 AWD and Q70 5.6 AWD models feature the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system designed to enhance traction and control in the most severe conditions by transferring 50% of power to the front wheels. When you don’t need the all-wheel drive, all power is sent to the rear wheels ensuring the finest responsive road performance.

The Infiniti Q70 Hybrid comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine rated at 360 HP at 6,500 rpm and enhanced with an exclusive Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid system that ensures the power of a luxury V8 engine with the fuel economy of a four-cylinder one. This car utilizes a lithium-ion battery and 50 kW electric motor. The V6 engine is matched to an electronically controlled seven-speed automatic transmission with an Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) system and provides a maximum torque peak of 258 lb. ft., while the electric engine ensures 199 lb. ft. of torque. The car also features the Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS,) Double overhead camshaft (DOHC), and 4 valves per cylinder with microfinished camshafts to ensure maximum performance on the road. While every Q70 Hybrid accessory delivers a true sense of luxury, its every part is a perfect blend of highly professional craftsmanship and advanced engineering techniques.
