Subaru Baja is a pickup truck manufactured by Japanese automaker Subaru division of Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) from 2002 to 2006. As an all-wheel drive, four-door, open-bed pickup truck that could accommodate four passengers pickup truck, the first Subaru Baja was introduced in market in 2003. Though as a vehicle with about four-year history, Subaru Baja is still very prevalent and has won J.D. Power’s APEAL (for Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study) Award for 2003 and 2004, Consumer Reports’ 2006 highest score for reliability in the pickup trick category.

The first Subaru Baja entered into production on July 18, 2002 as a 2003 model. And its design ideas were based on the Subaru’s ST-X (Sport Truck X-perimental) concept vehicle that was introduced at the 2000 Los Angeles International Auto Show. In United States and Canada, Subaru Baja was also known as a multiple-choice vehicle for its unique design and versatility. It offered Sport and turbocharged models. From 2003 to 2005, Subaru Baja was powered by a 2.5 L EJ251 H4 engine, and then from 2005 to 2006, it got power from the 2.5 L EJ253 H4 engine. As for turbocharged model, Subaru Baja was equipped with a 2.5 L EJ255 H4 turbo engine. All these engines were attached to either a 4-speed automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission.
